Sažetak

It is a very interesting fact that the Bosnian ulema showed special in- terest and inclination towards sufi literature and especially towards poetry. Immediately after the Turks came to Bosnia, and even before that, in certain towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina the tekijas were formed. In the tekijas and during the dervish meetings the works of Persian classics were read and interpreted. Those were the works:Mesnevi by Dželaludin Rumi, Gulistan and Bustan by Šejh Muslihudin Sa’di, Divan of Gazels by Hafiz Širazi, Beharistan by Abdurahman Džami, Pendnama by Feridudin Attara and some oth- ers. Not only were the works of Persian authors read and interpreted, but also Bosnian authors wrote works in Persian following the example of the Persian classics. As far as it is known today, the most prominent of these authors were Fevzi Mostarac /1970-1747/. whose work Bulbulistan was discovered and translated, and Derviš-paša Bajezidagić, whose Divan of Persian Poetry has not been yet discovered, but Fevzi Mostarac in Bulbulistan claims that he held it in his own hands and read it.
Among the commentators of the Persian poetry the most famous one was Ahmed efendija Sudi, from the vicinity of Čajniče, who lived and worked in the XVIth century. He has wiitten some very valuable commen- taries of the Hafiz’s. Divan, Sa’di’s Gulistan and Bustan and Rumi’s Mesnevi.
This tradition and inclination of the Bosnian ulema towards the read- ing and interpreting of sufi poetry, especially of Rumi’s Mesnevi has been preserved in Bosnia and Herzegovina tililthe present day. The most prominent mesnevi hani and commentators of the sufi poetry at the end of the XI- Xth and the beginning of the XXth century were Hadži Mehmed Džemaludin Čaušević /1870-1938/. Hadži Mujaga Merhemić /1877-1959/ and Hadži Fejzullah efendija Hadžibajrić /1913-1990/. Hadžibajrić has translated and published two volumes of the Mesnevi. The first volurne of 4000 verses was published in 1980, and the second volume of 3810 verses in 1987.
